overnight road work details coming up. >> eric: at the barry bonds trial. you want to stay tuned for information on that. i'm eric thomas. >> and i'm kristen sze. >> the latest on the hunt for a bomber that planted an explosive that severely injured a vacaville man. the bomb was found inside a newspaper inside a home. it happened yesterday morning in a neighborhood west of interest state 505. a man was severely injured when he went outside to pick up his paper and the bomb detonated. he was taken to the trauma center with serious injuries. the neighborhood was evacuated for about nine hours while local police and atf agents searched for more explosives. no other booms were found -- bombs were found. >> my husband was veteran and

this bomb isn't something they wanted in the neighborhood. >> kristen: they are trying to determine if the victim was specifically targeted. >> eric: testimony in the barry bonds perjury trial could be embarrassingly personal. the former mistress could testify on changes to his physique that they blame on steroids. >> reporter: i stayed here in the newsroom just to stay warm this morning. kimberly bell is one of former miss tresdz and he is expected to say she talked to him about his changes. and she saw the changes that steroids brought to his body including his testicles getting smaller. also testifying mike murphy talking about how bonds needed a larger baseball cap.

this all following last week's testimony a chief science offer from the u.s. anti-doping agency. he described the side effects of steroids when combined. smaller testicles bad acne male breast growth. increased aggressiveness and enlargement of the extremities. last week was no cakewalk for bonds. >> i wish i could say more about the case. we try not to comment on what takes place inside a court. >> reporter: getting back to the testimony of kimberly bell. bonds' legal team is on record saying the only accurate measurement can be taken with an instrument. and some reporters rolled their eyes and others giggled. no laughing matter to bonds. mr. ruby may have a female member of the legal team do the questioning. whoever asks the questioning the

jury is expected to be very attentive. >> kristen: it's 4:33. members of the state puc is going to decide whether to approve an agreement to pay $3 million in fines. they agreed to pay the fines for missing records. they demanded the records after the san bruno pipeline explosion last december. they wanted to verify the safety of pressure levels. pg&e only came up with records on 455 miles of pipelines. they are considering an additional $3 million in fines if the company doesn't stick to a compliance timetable. >> eric: berkeley administrators will meet with parents to say what steps they will keep drugs off campus after three boys were arrested last wednesday for bringing guns to school. there have been two other incidents and berkeley is considered one of the top high

schools in the country. the gun incidents are indicative of what could be a growing nationwide problem. >> kristen: they are trying to figure out how a snowboarder died in the sierra last weekend. they found the body of philip walker covered in several inches of snow at tahoe ski resort yesterday. he disappeared on saturday while snowboarding. he may have collided with a tree while snowboarding. >> eric: cleanup efforts continue in capitola. the city declared a state of emergency and hoping to get federal relief money. cecilia vega has our story. >> reporter: two days of flooding wasn't bad enough the cleanup is so overwhelming many merchants don't know where to begin. capitola city council chambers were packed for an emergency meeting to declare a local

disaster that starts the process for merchants to receive government assistance. >> we are simply out of business. we're moving our stuff out today. i can tell you with a hundred percent we will not return to the city of capitola. >> this is what is left of tom's business a thomas gallery and gift shop of 30 years. paintings were destroyed. they floated with the floodwaters into the showroom. >> it was like a lake in here. >> reporter: austin says his losses could be in millions. thursday's rain overwhelmed a drainage pipe that runs underneath a mobile home park. two days later most of capitola village was underwater. it was a one-two punch and now the cleanup begins. >> i think somebody should be liable because all these people have been flooded two days in a row. >> city officials it could be

days before they got an official es on how much damage all this water in downtown capitola cost. the pipeline alone could reach million dollars. city crews are working to get it fixed before it starts raining again. >> kristen: there has been so much snow and rain in sierra it collapsed the roof of a bowling alley. it was right above the pool hall. people were evacuated just in time. elsewhere many are still shoveling snow off their roofs. they had as much 150 inches of new snow in the last week and all that roof snow very dangerous. we were up in tahoe last weekend and a huge chunk fell two feet away from the kids when they were playing.

conditions. a few lingering clouds from this morning's sprinkles. so without the rain let's talk about pollen moderate amounts of grass and weed remains low. there it is. inland mid-70s around the bay. mid-60s at the coast. wednesday thursday and friday will be warmer than average and back to average with a slight chance of shower saturday and sunday. good morning mike. snowing in the sierra and we do have chain requirements on 50 both directions. and here we have toll plaza very light. no problems reported no stalls or accidents on the bridge. let's check walnut creek 680 moving at the limit. this is towards north main. towards 24 and through the caldecott tunnel. no problems there.

monterey bay temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. let's take about what is going to happen over this forecast period drying trend and warmer weather. we'll be above average in our afternoons wednesday thursday and friday and slight chance of some weekend showers. it will still be mild. it won't be cold showers. mid-50s in the south bay with los gatos around 65 degrees for the warm spot. head up the peninsula and drop to the mid-50s down to 52 in millbrae. we'll be in the upper 50s to low 60s along the coast this afternoon. downtown san francisco right near 60. upper 50s in north bay valleys as you head inland temperatures in the low to mid-50s for you. mid 50s throughout the each bay valleys and after this morning's rain mid-50s around the monterey bay and increasing sunshine. let's take a look what shaping cold front pushing through.
